Hotel 70° @ Mostyn Rambling Thoughts.

I've just put my thoughts (rambling) together for Herald Gymraeg 30th April. Not a review as such but an encouragement to visit Hotel 70° at Mostyn.
To be honest at the moment I am totally obsessed with the writings of  Cledwyn Hughes and his book 'A Wanderer in North Wales' (Phoenix House London, 1949). Hughes has a seemingly total disregard for the structure of sentences. His words are strung together as non sentences. They are meaningful short bursts of words, Quite brilliant, almost in a cut-up style. That thing of Bowie cutting up sentences to create song lyrics.

What 'A Wanderer in North Wales'  does though, is inspire and make you want to explore ....

Somehow this all makes sense when you visit Hotel 70°  - so all will be revealed in my non-review in the Herald on the 30th April. It's just the introduction to Anarchy in the UK  "get off your arse" and get down to the Mostyn - simple.

I bought Bedwyr's book 'Bedwyr, I Think I Missed Your Performance’, it was signed and I collect (things).

In the book is the following quote : What post-punk was for punk, bards were for druids” . I am now a Bedwyr Williams fan. Actually, I probably already was - on the basis of 'The Bard'.

So check all this stuff out :

The Hotel 70° is long gone of course :

I tweeted recently that Wales is an exciting place, culturally. I'd just seen Andy Kershaw's live show. This and more went into a Herald piece on the 16th April about Cultural Reference Points
http://rhysmwyn.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/yn-saesneg-cultural-reference-point.html

So along with Kershaw (who performed in Wales) the others (all Welsh) I suggested were cultural bringers of sunshine, and they make (indirectly or directly) the Welsh language not only cool but sexy, vibrant, vital, today, a whole bunch of things .... just bless them, simple.

They are Ani Saunders, Gareth Wyn Jones, Rhian Blythe and the Young Welsh Artists at Coleg Menai .........

for pics and links go into the Blog  on cultural reference points

So a lot of this has nothing to do with Hotel 70° but it's all part of the wanderings of an imaginary chairman through North Wales........ Bedwyr Williams is another bringer of cultural sunshine - go see that film !

The opening at Mostyn 17.04.14.
